Disclaimer:
The illustrated disc flight line is based on the manufacturer
field testing results, during its development process. So,
to level the playing field we chose to put a different spin on
things for such visual illustrations. Sticking to the manufacturer's test results will offer you a good baseline for how that
particular disc will fly.
Product Description
The Discraft Z Line Mantis Disc Golf Distance Driver is one of the straightest flyers in the game. It's got a small rim and a flatter top than most fairway drivers. It's a go to for tunnel shots and slow long distance turnovers.
The Mantis can be thrown 100-175 feet softly and it will go straight. It's got that longer mid range feel to it and will be pinpoint accurate at shorter distances. As you increase the distance and speed you throw the Mantis you find you can manipulate it more. It will be a slow smooth turnover that has a little hyzer tail at the end of the flight. It has a slow feel to it and doesn't flip over or flex back quickly, this makes it ideal for pretty much every hyzerflip or anhyzer shot. The Mantis is a disc you can be confident throwing. For the disc having a -2 rating for turn it doesn't do that unless you really crush the disc.
Z Line plastic from Discraft is their premium durable blend. It won't ding up quickly and takes a long time to beat in and get seasoned. Since you'll be ripping the Mantis down tunnels you may hit a tree. You won't have to worry about the flight characteristics changing for at least a couple of seasons. It's got good grip and doesn't get soft in the summer like other plastics might.
The Mantis is a fairway driver that flies straight, works for flip ups and turnovers, and can be thrown by players of all skill levels. It's a great choice to have in your bag.
