The Innova Star Alien is an overstable midrange disc with an extra grippy rim on the top. This disc is a very different handfeel than most Innova discs, it has that top like the Sonic but a bottom like a Roc. You can rely on this disc to be a utility approach mid that has virtually no glide and no turn to it.
The flight path of the Alien will be straight for the first 50% of the flight and then it's going to start to hyzer and get down to the ground. You want this disc anytime you have to do a soft flex shot through the woods. Or if you find that your other approach discs seem to carry too far and hyzer for too long. The Alien wants to land on Earth quickly. This disc does handle the torque of a forehand or backhand equally well. You won't be using the Alien on every hole, but when you need it you can rely on it to get you up and down, even in windy weather.
Star plastic from Innova is a premium blend. It's beloved for its durability, grip, weight and color choices. This is what you see the pros on the Disc Golf Pro Tour and what you'll see amateurs throwing on your home course. That's because it's affordable and it works everywhere.
The Innova Star Alien is an awesome utility disc. It's not what you pull out on every hole, but when you're in jail or need something to get up and down on a windy day, you'll be glad you have this disc sitting in you bag. |
