The Innova DX Birdie is an excellent approach disc that is very beginner friendly. Flying slowly, on an arrow straight path, it is a reliably accurate chain catching putter. The Thumbtrac grip gives the Birdie a deep rim that provides a secure feel in the hand, ensuring a nice release with little to no slip. The gummy DX plastic extends this grip onto the ground and into the chains, making it stick it's landing every time. Performing well in all weather conditions gives you more time throughout the year to use the Birdie more frequently. As the Birdie breaks in, it begins taking own its own flight characteristics; so, you may want to consider buying more than one. The lid-style rim also makes this a perfect transition disc for players more familiar with the flat edged discs found in catch, freestyle and ultimate disc sports.
